Proposed split
editI think this should be split, because the abbreviations and the uses as names are quite distinct. The abbreviations are in all caps and the names in title case, and perhaps for that reason there is not such a good case for making the split, because of course an abbreviation may come along that is not in all caps. But on the whole, I think it would aid searching right now – avoiding a redirect where people type "Bem" but get "BEM" – and then that being a DAB page for the "wrong thing".
I changed the section order to put BEM (abbreviation) first, since the article title is BEM, not Bem. I can see that I may have muddied the waters by doing so and then proposing a split, but I will let it stand for now, and await discussion on whether it should be split, or perhaps renamed (to Bem) and reordered back again. As I say, I do appreciate that in the future not all abbreviations need be in all caps, but a DAB page is primarily here to ease searches right now, and in my view telescoping the two distinct meanings (name and abbreviation) when it is not necessary to do so because of orthography needlessly exacerbates a search.
Of course "Bem" should {{see also}}
"BEM", and the other way about.

- For a disambiguation page that is very lengthy (let's say, over 100 entries) there might be a need to split based on capitalization. But this page has a sufficiently short list that users can easily scan the list of entries. For example, Map (disambiguation) has the word and acronym mixed together, and has a longer list than this page. Also, users can be imprecise in their capitalization when typing for a search, so there is an advantage to having variations of capitalization of BEM all end up on the same page. - Currently, Bem redirects to this page (BEM), and given the low number of links in this disambiguation page, I would be tempted to say keep it as one page. I agree with Obankston's reasoning for keeping a single page. Phuzion (talk) 00:53, 14 August 2010 (UTC)
- With such desultory comment, it appears that the page should not be split, and so I am removing the tag. Sincerely, your friend, GeorgeLouis (talk) 00:42, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
