Merge?
editA much shortened version of this article would appear compatible with a merge to Open Text. --Stormbay 02:42, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
- No. I would like this to stay separate from Open Text and be expanded and cleaned up (I think parts that are in the recent time frame since Open Text own it can be transferred though) I am interested in expanding the Enterprise Search article (currently it is just a list) with a history/timeline section and this BRS/SEARCH article is a good example of an early (Pre-WWW) system that can be referred to. As an encyclopedia I think it is important that we attempt to preserve historic content rather than destroy it. I'm willing to work on this page as well as any other early examples e.g BASIS, Fulcrum, InfoSphere etc. Ray3055 (talk) 18:07, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
- That's great! I will take it off my watch list. Next time you improve it, you could remove the appropriate tags (i.e. notability and merge). I endorse expansion but this article had been dormant, basically, which is why I proposed the merge. --Stormbay (talk) 23:05, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
- I have temporarily commented out most of the original text which relates to Open Text history rather than BRS. The Jan Egeland article will provide much of the BRS early history and I'll rewrite as soon as I get time. Some of the Open Text timeline text could perhaps be useful on the Open Text page. I'll remove the merge and notability notice Ray3055 (talk) 11:52, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
Re-write
editI have re written the original page based on the references shown; no doubt there may be errors and there is much to clean up and expand. I have left some of the original Open Text history text as 'commented out' text in case anyone wants to use it to expand the Open Text page. There is still plenty of scope for expansion about the actual software technology... Ray3055 (talk) 23:03, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

Commented-out text
editNot sure if this wants to be adapted to be suitable for publication, or if it should just be deleted, but it was in the article, commented out. -- Beland (talk) 10:10, 29 October 2018 (UTC)
