Pronounciation
editI visited Bache last week. The pronounciation is definately not like 'Back'. Evidence for the 'aish' pronounciation:
- that is how the station is announced on merseyrail trains that stop there
- that is how it was pronounced by my wife's work-mates when she worked there in 1998/9.
- In the 1970's I often visited a friend who lived there, he again used the 'aish' pronounciation
- it was referred to as "the Bache" with 'aish' pronounciation by my teachers at school in Chester also in the 1970's.
However, talking to someone who works in Birkenhead, it appears that the 'back' pronounciation may be used (in ignorance I presume) by people who work further North in Wirral. If nobody has any good evidence to the contrary (to contradict my experience and explain it), I'll change the pronounciation back. Francis Davey 19:32, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
I agree, I'll change it now, I know for a fact that it's beɪtʃ
- Is it baish, as said above, or baitch? Also, I'm deleting the unsupported pronunciation of Bache railway station, presuming it's as here and not back. kwami (talk) 08:33, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
