editIs back-to-school a major retail season in places where children generally wear uuniforms to school? - PKM 18:31, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
Speaking for Australia, yes. Most major retails will hold a back-to-school sale, and distribute a back-to-school catalogue. The marketing focus is on school supplies such as pens and exercise books, and also the uniform items that generally aren't bought from the school such as shirts, socks, and shoes. It is also the key retailing season for lunchboxes and schoolbags, which would not be the case in the US if television is to be believed.
Is this article useful enough to split the information into sections by country? It could be left as-is and changed to read "...in the United States", but I would imagine most developed nations would have a similar retail marketing blitz at the end of the school year. The school year which of course does not start in September in most places (or does it end in September? I can never figure that one out). I'd be interested to know what Wikipedians from other countries think. Just how universal is the concept? Andoka 13:03, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
In the US, it begins in early or mid-August and ends around early September. I do believe it's different in certain countries, so dividing the article by country would be wise. 67.169.150.212 (talk) 19:20, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

Move
editI moved the page from "Back to school" to "Back to school (marketing)". Users who are entering search terms in all lower case or all caps should not be prevented from locating the movie, which predates the marketing term. The term also tends to use hyphens, which are not present in the current title. Pejorative.majeure (talk) 21:48, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
B2S vs B2C
editIn North America, some companies run 2 campaigns at the same time - Back to School and Back to Campus. What are the differences between the two campaigns? CJ 03:20, 6 July 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Copyjane (talk • contribs)
