Talk:Bad Girl (Avril Lavigne song)

Genre

edit

I've removed "industrial" and "punk rock" as the citations were not specific to the song. Digital Spy said 'She sounds infinitely more comfortable on the Marilyn Manson-assisted 'Bad Girl', which recalls '70s punk surprisingly faithfully and offers an indication of where her sound could be go in the future.[1]" while Rolling Stone said "In "Bad Girl," she and Marilyn Manson get their industrial-glam cartoon kink on. [2]". These aren't specific enough and should not be taken as genre. Beside, whoever added it skipped glam, so we can't pick and choose like that. The nu-metal one is fine though. @MagicatthemovieS: THis is my review of the article; I only have a handful of comments that I think need addressed for this to pass as GA.

Lead

  • Lavigne and Manson have been friends for years, and were once falsely rumored to be dating. --this seems too involved to be in the lead, and I think is better part of the Background section only.
  • Maybe it's just me, but "creepy" strikes me as a bit informal/unencyclopedic. Maybe "unseemly" or something of the sort would be a better option?

Background

  • Everything reads nicely here. No real issues with prose.

Composition

  • I'm assuming "cruching guitars" is a typo for "crunching" or "crushing"?
  • "pints"----"points"
  • Billboard named it a "salacious, sloppy, muddied rock music - as it damn well should be," -- "a" is an extra/unneeded article

Credits and personnel

  • There may or may not be a standard rule on this, but from my experience with music articles, the person should be listed with their role following, not the other way around (i.e. "Avril Lavigne — backing, lead vocals," not "Backing, lead vocals – Avril Lavigne"). I do think the former makes more sense and is easier to navigate as far as list-form information goes.

Sources

  • These seem to check out, and are appropriately archived/formatted.

Overall: This article is very close to passing; there are a few minor things I have pointed out above, but they are mostly minor technical issues and not related to the substance of the article here.   On hold
