Other Tabs
editShouldn't the Airborne tab belong in the "Identification Tabs" section?
- I believe that is a shoulder patch of a division and not a qualification badge. I'm not an Army man, though. -Husnock 16:15, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- The airborne tab is part of a unit insignia, for example, the 101st is NOT an actual Airborne division, but an Air Assault division, and is allowed to wear the airborne tab as an historical patch of the division.--Vidkun 13:45, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
Why has the Honor Guard tab been omitted? Soldiers of the Old Guard wear them permanently. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.166.224.13 (talk • contribs) 00:35, 25 June 2009
- To clarify, below is a quote from Army Regulations. Jigen III (talk) 05:15, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
The Sapper, Ranger, Special Forces and President’s Hundred tabs are the only tabs authorized for permanent wear. Tabs such as Airborne, Honor Guard, Mountain, and Pershing are authorized for temporary wear only.

National Guard
editI'd like to request that the Mountain Warfare School badge be added.207.69.138.141 05:58, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
- Sure thing, is there some place that the badge can be found? --Darkstar949 00:08, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
- That badge is a National Guard badge and is issued by the state of Vermont. This article (as indicated by "of the United States Army" in the title) is for badges authorized by HQDA, not state govts. Jigen III (talk) 05:44, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
Very comprehensive, but the Army National Guard recruiter badges are not included. There are three different levels of them, in much the same way the USA and USAR have seperate gold/silver recruiter badges. —Preceding unsigned comment added by DropZone357 (talk • contribs) 02:43, 29 August 2006
- We are only including badges described in AR670-1. NG badges are considered state-level badges. See below. Jigen III (talk) 05:44, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
Badges not authorized for wear on Army uniforms... Badges awarded by States and other jurisdictions inferior to the U.S. Government, except as provided in paragraph 29–6j for ARNG soldiers in their state status.
AR670-1, Chapter 29, Section 14a
Army National Guard personnel are authorized to wear State awards under applicable State laws or regulations when assigned to the ARNG under the command and control of the Governor or Adjutant General, under the provisions of title 32, United States Code... Soldiers on active Federal Service, under the provisions of title 10, United States Code, are authorized to accept but not wear State or Territory awards.
AR670-1, Chapter 29, Section 6j

Jungle and Arctic Tabs
editThe Jungle Tab has a long history in the US army. It's something every soldier has seen. The Arctic Tab is not one I've seen, but from what I understand it's also become a common unit level tab. But being a tab is very different from being a badge. I deleted these additions when I tried to search to find absolutely any evidence of a Jungle or Arctic badge and found none. I couldn't even find a place to buy one as a novelty item. I suspect that no one has ever worn these tabs as metal badges on their dress uniform and we shouldn't invent the notion that someone has. They exist as cloth tabs which individual units have opted to award. I see no evidence that these unit awards are also being produced and worn as metal badges on dress uniforms. I suspect they never will until they become Army wide awards. Even then, the whole badge version of tabs was a mere product of the ASU dress uniform not including unit patches on the shoulder. The new pinks & greens army dress uniform returns to having unit patches on the shoulder, so tabs are likely to return to being strictly shoulder tabs and not badges. But - either way it goes - no one has a Jungle or Arctic badge on their dress uniform so it doesn't belong on the badge wiki entry. - Atfyfe (talk) 05:54, 9 April 2020 (UTC)
Sniper Tab
editEven though the sniper tab is not authorized to wear, when you graduate you are still given a sniper tab. Can you add the sniper tab? 2600:1700:3E0A:1D10:B597:C677:8704:B1D4 (talk) 17:27, 3 May 2023 (UTC)
Arctic Tab
editAlso to include the Arctic Tab. If you’ve attended this school you are allowed to wear your Arctic Tab under your unit patch if you’re still in a unit that authorizes it. 2600:1700:3E0A:1D10:B597:C677:8704:B1D4 (talk) 17:34, 3 May 2023 (UTC)
- Please read the section on the status change on the Arctic Tab on the "Tabs of the United States Army" Wikipedia article. --McChizzle (talk) 18:29, 3 May 2023 (UTC)
