Lost Tracks Live?

Anyone know anything about a release of a live DVD with all studio recorded material in a box set called "Lost Tracks Live"? I saw it on ebay and had a cover from the debut album? Is this a bootleg, or maybe Japan? 68.151.244.71 (talk) 05:20, 28 March 2008 (UTC) RK.

Glam Metal

I'd like to know why the glam metal genre label keeps coming back. Exactly what about Badlands music connects it to the party-hardy hedonism of Poison or KISS? Exactly where is the gender androgyny of Twisted Sister or Cinderella? Sure, the guys Badlands had impressive hair in the late 1980s, but so did the guys in Metallica. Chaisson's "country" and Gillen's proto-retro-60s thing are completely out of place in a glam conception, and the band's music is far too complex texturally and in terms of ensemble virtuosity to connect to the straightforward pop song style of the glam sound.

We could talk about the connection between glam metal and the blues, with certain blues rock conventions serving as a way for glam metal artists to try and legitimize themselves as "real" musicians. However, that doesn't mean Badlands was ever a glam metal band.

I'm not the guy who keeps putting that label on the band, but I'll say that Jake E. Lee definitely has a glam metal background- Mickey Ratt/Ratt, Rough Cutt, Dio, and Ozzy Osbourne. Also, I'd say that musical genres aren't always as clear cut and black and white as a lot of people try to make them out to be. Gringo300 23:19, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks, but not buying it. To say Jake E. Lee has a glam metal background does not make Badlands a glam metal band (btw, to call Dio a glam metal band is a little bit strange don't you think? Can't remember too many Dio songs about "nothing but a good time") Also, I agree that genres and styles are fluid, but Badlands had little musically to do with glam metal. The things I listed above still stand and I'd still like to see an actual counter-argument -- where's the connection between Badlands and glam metal? Pillsbur 03:54, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

I don't get the glam stuff for Badlands either. They didn't really wear glam clothes, their hair was long, but not really big and their sound was definitely not hair metal/glam metal. Just blues based hard rock. And Dio is certainly not glam either. His band's image was similar to hair metal bands from 1986-1988 with the Goldy/Appice/Bain/Schnell lineup and a few of his songs, but for the most part his sound and image was heavy metal, and closer to European metal at that than LA glam/hair metal. Greg Chaisson actually auditioned for Ozzy's band during The Ultimate Sin era which was the short stretch when Ozzy could be called glam metal/hair metal and according to Jake he was turned down because he didn't have the right look. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RandyRhoadsRonnieDio (talk • contribs) 10:59, 27 June 2011 (UTC)

Ray Gillen's Death?

Just what is the truth? I have the issue of Kerrang where they report his death in a New York City hospital on December 1, 1993. Frank Zappa died on December 3rd, the article mentioned "former Black Sabath/Badlands singer and Frank Zappa die in same week". Ray's Departure from Badlands

The current narative doesn't seem right as I saw Badlands play a show in 1992 at the Boardwalk in Orangevale, California. That night the band, with Ray singing, said they were looking for a record company to record and promote a third album better than Atlantic had. A few months later Ray was fired. The current text implies they only toured the UK for Voodoo Highway with Ray...so when was there time for touring the U.S. and recording Dusk? Dusk

To list that Dusk didn't chart and then not say that it wasn't relased by a record company for sale in the U.S. is a bit misleading. Does anyone know if Dusk was ever released in the U.S.? I see that you can get a copy now on Amazon but it appears to be the European version and my copy is from Japan. I can't tell which chart people are using for this as I would assume that when released in Japan that it would have made the Japanese charts. Does anyone have any information from there and then? Live Album from Boston

It would not have charted since Badlands has not released a live album. There are various bootlegs being circulated by fans. Kerrang! articles Section

In the middle of the Kerrang! articles section, there is randomly some bio info on Debby Holiday. I am not sure it belongs there as it seems completely out of context.
