Episodes
editHow about a list of the episode titles, perhaps with a brief synopsis of what happened in each one? My favourite was the mouse mill one, although they were nearly all excellent. Magnus 18:03 Apr 15, 2003 (UTC)
Rewrite
editThis article needs a rewrite, I feel. The main bit's remained virtually unchanged since the original version from January 2002, and, as a result, several bits are still very hokey and 'sweet'. BillyH 16:34, 5 October 2005 (UTC)
- Rewrite it, then! Honestly. UrbaneLegend 10:42, 7 March 2006 (UTC)
- I wasn't sure I could, it looked pretty tricky (hence me asking here). You've done a great job, though, thanks! BillyH 14:06, 7 March 2006 (UTC)
- Shame. I liked the old version :-) --Khendon 20:19, 7 March 2006 (UTC)
- I know what you mean. It's hard not to be sentimental about a programme as wonderful as Bagpuss, but we do have to be encyclopedic! UrbaneLegend 02:35, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

Russell
edit'distantly based, it is said, on the philosopher Bertrand Russell'. Anyone find a reference for this? Steve
- Oliver Postgate said this himself during an episode of the BBC Radio 4 documentary series Trumpton Riots in December 1995.
- The BBC1 news item on Oliver Postgate's passing also mentioned this, if that's easier to locate almost-instinct 14:16, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
- It's also mentioned in "Seeing things", Oliver's autobiography, and I've seen it elsewhere too. EdJogg (talk) 14:38, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
Which year was it set in?
editAt the beginning of each episode, the narrator said: "Once upon a time - not so long ago". How long ago in the past was it set? F W Nietzsche (talk) 02:26, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
- I'm not sure it has a specific date. The presence of a model 1930s/1940s car in the window (IIRC) dates it to the mid-20th century, which is certainly "not so long ago" as far as the 1970s when it was first broadcast. You may not be able to narrow it down any more than that.

James Greaken
editThis text just added to, and removed from, lede.
- Postgate's best friend James Greaken also helped to inspire the legardary programme. [sic]
While this may well be true, and without wanting to hurt Mr Greaken's feelings, nevertheless this snippet doesn't really belong in the article. A quick Google only revealed one mention, in a response to a column piece following Postgate's death
As ever, if a suitable Reliable Source can be found, there is no reason why Mr Greaken shouldn't be mentioned here...

- WP:RS is surely going to have to mean a mention in "Seeing Things" (unindexed!), which I shamefully still haven't finished reading. Andy Dingley (talk) 16:19, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
- Almost certainly! (It's a big book, isn't it?) I'm fairly sure I've got and listened to an audiobook version (brain sleepy today!), but I've only dipped into the book to check facts... EdJogg (talk) 09:23, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
