editCan you explain any reasons why you undo my edits about Baidoa. It seem you covering up the reality of what happened to this region and its people. Don't push me to take this matter to the heads of wiki. the genocide you seem to deny is referenced by over 60 media and pics are every and international rights group have the records. Why you want to hide from the world eyes? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Farkeeti (talk • contribs) 06:02, 18 August 2014 (UTC)
- Hi. The material was largely original research, and the little that wasn't was sourced to some American fellow's memoir, which is not a reliable source. Regardless, the conflict (which is not the topic of the article) is already summarized neutrally and in its appropriate historical context; so the material is redundant either way. Regards, Middayexpress (talk) 14:21, 18 August 2014 (UTC)
- I disagree your assertion that the conflict is not the essence of the article. Somali history is shaped by war and conflicts, so any article appeared on any news in the past 25 years was mentioning Somali conlict in one or another. You also stated articles and references which I used are redundant, well the 500,000 people killed are not redundant. The course of investigation and legal action are taking place. Battle for the truth cannot be covered up by a minisclue article in wiki. I respect your contribution and I expect from you the same. Keep in mind no one can lecture me my town, and the history of my people. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Farkeeti (talk • contribs) 05:00, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
- You are welcome to disagree. However, the fact remains that the material was indeed largely original research and the little that wasn't was sourced to a memoir. Irrespective of this, the conflict in Baidoa -- which is not the topic of the article; that is covered on the separate Battle of Baidoa -- is also already adequately summarized. For the rest, please have a look at the conflict of interest policy. Regards, Middayexpress (talk) 14:17, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
- The battle you referenced has nothing to do, of the update I was adding. If you don't have a conflict of interest why don't you allow the true picture of Somalia to be presented to the world? Unless you are Somalis who disguise himself, I don't expect any contributor from other nations to dispute with the History line of Somalia and Somalis. As I said before, i'll keep updating it so the world will know the true picture of Somalia and its history. And I am not limited to Baidoa, but my changes will go to Somali pages, to correct the misrepresetation that you and others like you have made throughout the history. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Farkeeti (talk • contribs) 06:32, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
- Sorry, but that material was indeed largely original research, and the little that wasn't was sourced to a memoir. Either way, the fact remains that the page is not on the Baidoa conflict (whether the recent insurgency or back in the early 1990s), but on the city generally. As such, it follows the guidelines on WP:CITSTRUCT. This is why you don't see the Mombasa wikipage, for example, devoted to a long spiel on the active secessionist movement based there (though it could be). When I directed you to the conflict of interest policy, it's also specifially because you just admitted to having one vis-a-vis Baidoa and its constituents. It is, though, strange how you went from claiming to "respect [my] contribution" to claiming that I "misrepresent[ed]" something or other; that's a contradiciton in terms. At any rate, all major edits will require consensus first. Per WP:HUSH, leave a response if any here so that the discussion is in one place. Regards, Middayexpress (talk) 15:03, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
- I don't think there are/were an "original research", most of your source are from clan media, be Garoweonline or Raxanreeb. I also checked the pages you contributed where you favored one city or clan over another. Remember the age of misrepresentation belongs to the past.Regards — Preceding unsigned comment added by Farkeeti (talk • contribs) 07:18, 21 August 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, I have no doubt that you're comfortable with that original research and soapboxing. Unfortunately, it was indeed both largely sourced to a memoir and in any event in breach of WP:CITSTRUCT. I won't even bother to dignify that transparent attempt to deflect attention from your own edits by casting aspersions on mine. Interestingly, though, many Kenyan/Tanzanian/Ugandan/Great Lakes wikipages contain similar soapboxing. Perhaps that should be fixed... time will surely tell. editHello fellow Wikipedians,
I have just added archive links to 2 external links on Baidoa. Please take a moment to review my edit. You may add {{cbignore}}
after the link to keep me from modifying it, if I keep adding bad data, but formatting bugs should be reported instead. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}}
to keep me off the page altogether, but should be used as a last resort. I made the following changes:
- Attempted to fix sourcing for http://www.uss-baidoa.org/index.php?page=about-us
- Attempted to fix sourcing for http://www.qalamuniversity.com/listSU.php
When you have finished reviewing my changes, please set the checked parameter below to true or failed to let others know (documentation at {{Sourcecheck}}
