Starting the page

edit

Going to make this a substantive page instead of a redirect. Bail#United States is already too long as it is. Zi Shy (talk) 18:21, 7 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Merger proposal

edit

I propose to merge 2019 New York bail reform into Bail in the United States#Reform. The NY bail reform article is outdated, short, nearly orphaned, and substantially maintained by a single editor who appears intent on making the new law sound radical and scary. Roland Crosby (talk) 17:20, 1 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

It makes sense to merge this article into the larger bail article. In terms of notability it does not seem to have the depth or duration of coverage or continuing relevance that would seem to justify maintaining it as a separate article. Arllaw (talk) 17:29, 1 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Are there any more thoughts on this proposed merger? Arllaw (talk) 23:00, 18 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
Given that even though it is a relatively recent creation, the NY bail reform article is already out-of-date and under the present circumstances is unlikely to amount to more than a historic footnote, my inclination remains to merge the two articles. Arllaw (talk) 03:00, 23 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
We seem to be stuck at two in favor, one opposed, and it would be great to get some additional input. Arllaw (talk) 17:20, 30 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
Oppose merge as the references support independent notability and the discussion is sufficiently detailed that it would have undue weight on Bail in the United States. Klbrain (talk) 23:03, 24 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
Closing, given the objections unopposed for a year. Klbrain (talk) 08:40, 8 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

another merger proposal

edit

Stationhouse bail is very short with very few page views; I propose this be merged into the 'types of bail' section. -- phoebe / (talk to me) 00:59, 22 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

    Y Merger complete. Klbrain (talk) 17:35, 2 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Promotion of Articles

edit

This article appears to have been revised less for the purpose of improvement and more to promote articles from Annual Reviews and its associated website, knowable.com. As a result of the changes the article now seems to editorialize in favor of the view advocated by one of the articles. While similar over-emphasis on perspectives supported by single articles was toned down during recent revision, that is at odds with the manner in which the views of the seemingly promoted articles have been treated. What about Kentucky, New Mexico and New Jersey? 2601:247:C400:21A5:B59A:F800:D14B:E17E (talk) 11:00, 17 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Possibly Revising this Article

edit

I would like to expand upon the bail reform section, include more scholarly references, and fix some grammatical errors. See more in my user page posting. Basmati235979 (talk) 04:53, 15 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Cashless/abolition of bail

edit

I am proposing a new article on the abolition of ("cashless") bail in the United States. This is a growing movement that has attracted a large amount of news interest and accompanying criticism. Loltardo (talk) 02:47, 16 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
