This is obviously going to be a fight. I will unredirect this forever if necessary. Kappa 14:19, 14 November 2005 (UTC)
- Heya, could you provide some more information on this village? It's location, population, etc? See a rambot article for details. If you know the village exists, typically you can add in some information about it. Kim Bruning 14:29, 14 November 2005 (UTC)
- What I added was all that I knew for sure. I didn't want to extrapolate from the fact that some Tuaregs live there to it being a "Tuareg settlement", but that seems plausible. Kappa 14:44, 14 November 2005 (UTC)
- Well, you challenged me to deal with it, so I did. Are you interested in explaining why you don't want it redirected? (In the meantime, I'll put a Wikilink in the sentence I added to Gao.) - A Man In Black (conspire | past ops) 14:36, 14 November 2005 (UTC)
- It's a village and it deserves an article, like every other village on the planet. There is consensus for that, please don't kill things just for the sake of tidiness. Kappa 14:44, 14 November 2005 (UTC)
- I didn't kill it; there was just no info here that wasn't self-evident from the title, so I redirected it somewhere where there was context, until someone added some info. There's no disagreement that this deserves an article; but, until it has an article (and one sentence is certainly not an article), anyone who searches for this deserves to see what relevant information Wikipedia already has. - A Man In Black (conspire | past ops) 14:47, 14 November 2005 (UTC)
- There was information that wasn't self-evident: it gave the district. If it's a redirect, a searcher has to search again just to find out we don't know anything else. Kappa 14:54, 14 November 2005 (UTC)
- That information was already in the Bakal dab notice.
*sigh* I know you mean well with this, and we don't actually disagree about this being an encyclopedic subject unto itself. (I feel every settlement with enough encyclopedic information to fill an article merits an article.) If I had found it like it looks now, I would have passed it right on by. But, as you first posted it, it had little content and no context that wasn't apparent from the title, so I handled it exactly as CSD recomments. Heck, I even preserved all of the data.
Please think about what you're fighting for before fighting any more, though. I don't see you as some sort of enemy or bugbear, and, well, we're both trying to improve this encyclopedia. - A Man In Black (conspire | past ops) 15:10, 14 November 2005 (UTC)- I'm fighting for an encyclopedia I can like and respect, and I'm losing that fight. It's a village with at least some of the population black Tuareg, and there's at least 100 housholds, based on an NGO report I found (they delivered goods good for 100 housholds :-P ) Kim Bruning 14:38, 14 November 2005 (UTC)
