Date conflict with Decker Brothers
editThe Decker Brothers article says the company started production in 1865; three years after this article says the Balwins started a Decker Brothers dealership.--Doug.(talk • contribs) 02:50, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
No longer making pianos?
editI don't see any website that says this. Timneu22 (talk) 20:29, 15 February 2009 (UTC)
- There was a citation in the intro of the article. However, the Trumann factory is not completely closed. It remains as a warehouse for existing inventory, and is being used for finish work on imported pianos, with a drastically reduced staff. Very sad.THD3 (talk) 21:29, 15 February 2009 (UTC)
The long promotional list
editA long list of pianists playing Baldwin has no encyclopedic value. It is just a list of performers without any information at all. It is nothing else than promotion. The list shall be removed. Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not#Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information. Fanoftheworld (talk) 19:02, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
- Point taken. I have added a shorter listing, which is aimed at being representative and not comprehensive.THD3 (talk) 20:42, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
- This seems like a good compromise. Despite fears of a slippery slope, I have re-added three more because of relative notability concerns. Rivertorch (talk) 06:10, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks, Rivertorch. However, some of the names are not in line with the source quoted, so I have made some alterations.THD3 (talk) 12:41, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
- Good catch, but the source itself actually redirected to the Baldwin home page. I've fixed that. I also moved Bernstein from pianist to composer, since aside from conducting, composing is what he's remembered for. Now I'm wondering if John Williams belongs with all those dead guys or if it ought to be reworded so he's in with the live 'uns. Thoughts? Rivertorch (talk) 17:27, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
NRHP narrative
editThe NRHP submission for the original Cincinnati plant (Baldwin Piano Company Building) has a very good writeup of the company's history that we should incorporate into this article. [1] Minh Nguyễn 💬 07:57, 23 December 2023 (UTC)
