Questionable History

I'd liek to add that it started way before 1993 I was playing it when i was 10, in a house i moved out of when i was 11, i have distinct memories of the controller i used, the tele, and the room i was in at the time. I have been informed from a very reliable source indeed that some of the information in this article is questionable. For example, "Bamber Boozler" did NOT, I was informed, get his name from Bamber Gascoigne. ACEO 10:40, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

Surely any fictional quizzmaster named "Bamber" must be influenced by Gascoigne? It's not exactly a common name, he's the only Bamber I'm aware of and I'm sure the same is true of most people wimbledon andy 11:55, 8 June 2006 (UTC) I have now been informed that the name actually comes from the word "Bamboozle". Teenagers

Source of name

It has been drawn to my attention that some well-meaning but misinformed personl tries to edit this article, making out that the name "Bamber Boozler", to use the phrase in the current article,is a "nod to Bamber Gascoigne". Can I emphasise that the name really does come from the word "bamboozle" and that I have been informed of this by a reliable source of information who, incidentally, at one time worked for Teletext. There must have been SOME reference inferred to the estwhile and, at least when the quiz was originally conceived, well-known host of University Challenge, surely? Digital

I removed the references to availability on digital, as I cannot get this on Freeview. Possibly it's available on satellite or cable, but if so that should be made clear.--Shantavira|^{feed me} 08:39, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Shame. I used to be able to get "analogue" teletext via my digital receiver (using the TV's text button - it must have been digitally tacked onto the signal somehow). I'll have to try again and see if they've sadly scrapped it. BBCi and the like are just such poor replacements - graphically richer, yes, but so little information in comparison and just as slow (and clunkier, if it were possible, as the fasttext buttons are hijacked for more general functions) 193.63.174.10 (talk) 11:46, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

Brian Boozler

I know the article says it was never stated whether Brian Boozler was meant to be any relation to Bamber, but I seem to remember reading that Brian was supposed to be Bamber's brother. Can't seem to find many reliable sources that talk about this game and establish notability. The one right above that someone posted briefly mentions it and links to this wikipedia page as a source; so that doesn't seem to reliable.
