‘In-universe information’
editWould be a good idea to add a TV ‘in-universe info’ section in this style for other characters (eg Ertuğrul, Dündar Bey) in my opinion. IronManCap (talk) 19:28, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
- IronManCap, I think that would be against WP:MOS and WP:NOT. This article is about a character so adding a "TV adaptation" section is fine. You can create an article like I did for Selcan Hatun a long time ago if you remember, which got deleted because it had too much in-universe information and no real-universe information. If you have some information about how the character was received (like how Engin Altan Düzyatan/Ertuğrul went to Pakistan and Cengiz Coşkun/Turgut's interview with Waseem Badami) and how he was produced (Jon Snow (character) is an example) then go for an article for the character in fiction. Is Bamsi fictional?
editReally, is he a fictional character? I meant to say that I've seen some videos on YouTube about Bamsi Beyrek, all claiming that he was not a fictional character but a real fighter in history. But, this article says him to be unrealistic. See this source and this photo. Many other videos on YouTube are present which claim the same. Thank you. Empire AS Talk! 12:06, 22 December 2020 (UTC)
- Hi, hope you are fine, I was editing the page while I came here and saw the message, first one I started watching Ertuğrul, I was familiar with many characters, as I had red about them, I had more interest in later Ottoman period, because it was difficult to find books on this period, yes, I also saw various videos about Bamsı on YouTube, and they mentioned him being real, but many Turkish historians wrote him being fictional. However, there is a grave of him in Erenli, Bayburt that proved his existence, however we don't if he existed. This source says he was a fictional character [1] Thank you. Tahaaleem Talk 12:23, 22 December 2020 (UTC)
- But the grave proves his existence. I'm still not sure whether he was real or not. Historians are in contrast with the YouTubers. According to some sources, he wasn't the alp of Ertuğrul, but lived even before him. Empire AS Talk! 12:47, 22 December 2020 (UTC)
- Empire AS, I think that he was fictional and later in history, someone probably died and he was named after Dede Korkut's character and today people think that he was real, but the truth is I really don't know. Sorry for the late reply, I had a problem of some sort today. The source that you gave says "he was a legendary hero", meaning he was fictional or he was just a great hero. The source incorrectly says that the Book of Dede Korkut was a "book of medieval Ottoman’s chronologies of that time", it is actually a fictional book of stories told by a medieval bard.Limorina (talk) 18:54, 22 December 2020 (UTC)
- Limorina, I think he is fictional, because most historians wrote him being fictional, see the reference [2] and see the line (Öte yandan Oğuzlar’ın en eski destanlarından biri olan Bamsı Beyrek hikâyesi Orta Asya bozkırlarının her yerinde tesbit edilmiştir) (Translation: On the other hand, the story of Bamsı Beyrek, one of the oldest epics of the Oghuzs, has been found all over the Central Asian steppes), this proves that he was fictional, however, whose grave is there in Erenli, now that's a question. Thank you. Tahaaleem Talk 19:34, 22 December 2020 (UTC)
- Tahaaleem, if you have time, I guess we should consider adding a picture of his grave to the main infobox? Limorina (talk) 22:30, 22 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Limorina:, the source doesn't appear to be reliable. But there were some other sources too that also mentioned the same thing. I also think that he is fictional. YouTubers are just spreading the false informations. You said
a problem of some sort
. May you heal! Thanks. Empire AS Talk! 07:07, 23 December 2020 (UTC)- Limorina, well if there is a photo on Wikipedia already, we can consider adding it, however if there isn't, unfortunately I couldn't add the photo, because from past many months, I cannot access to Wikimedia, I had uploaded seven pictures in the past, which got deleted, and yeah YouTubers are just spreading false informations, only to garner views and increase their subs, and you may heal from the problem you're suffering. Thank you. Tahaaleem Talk 07:14, 23 December 2020 (UTC)
- Tahaaleem, I'm actually not banned from Wikimedia but I'm concerned about getting banned as I too have uploaded a few pictures without reading the copyright rules and even though I have now, I'm concerned that I might make a mistake again, can you still upload it to Wikipedia instead? Empire AS, thanks for praying but my reasons are a little personal but again, thanks! Limorina (talk) 10:15, 23 December 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for providing it, however I might think it might get deleted again even if I uploaded here, however I will visit Turkey next year hopefully, but of we uploaded it and it gets deleted then there might be no chance of adding it. Thank you.Tahaaleem Talk 10:25, 23 December 2020 (UTC)

Sorry I’m late to the conversation, but I would assert that he is fictional, the ‘real’ Bamsi (the one with a grave) has no historical significance at all, and that YouTubers say he was real because that’s what they (and their viewers) want to believe. Thanks. IronManCap (talk) 22:58, 6 March 2021 (UTC)
Colour
editLimorina, I added orange as a colour because I thought it sort of matched his turban. Colours like ‘cream’ weren’t available, whilst beige was more yellow. It isn’t a major issue though, green is fine. IronManCap (talk) 21:57, 23 January 2021 (UTC)
TV adaptation
editLimorina, it might be a good idea to separate the article into two, one for Bamsı in the Book of Dede Korkut and one for his TV adaptation. The TV section in this article, therefore, could have a brief summary with a ‘Main article’ link to the TV article. IronManCap (talk) 22:38, 30 January 2021 (UTC)
- Obviously, the character would need some information about production and reception, therefore, but there is plenty to go off. IronManCap (talk) 22:43, 30 January 2021 (UTC)
- IronManCap, as per WP:AS, it's fine, if you have a look at an article like Sansa Stark and the other GoT character articles, it goes the same way as this one. Jon Snow (character) is even classed as a WP:GA. Limorina (talk! ◾ contribs) 08:59, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
Image
editUser:IronManCap, the reason why I replaced that image with the old one was that I simply liked it more. I explained why that image was wrongfully deleted on your talk page but I don't have time to explain it thoroughly. I have more to say but no time. Limorina (talk) 15:48, 8 February 2021 (UTC)
- Limorina, I realise it was wrongfully deleted, but there’s no use “flogging a dead horse”, we can find another picture if you don’t like the one I uploaded. IronManCap (talk) 17:07, 8 February 2021 (UTC)
