Self-contradictory Section (Succession)

The section on succession appears to contradict itself. It's not clear, when the section uses the names "Bandar" and "Saud," whether they're talking about the same person. If so, how could Saud not have wanted to be involved in government and yet have wanted to be next and line and a job as Defense Minister?

I came here to fix grammar/spelling/style, although the problems really didn't seem that bad. I've chosen to leave things as they are until someone with knowledge of the actual history can come through and help out. I don't want to edit it for wording right now, because I don't have a way to be sure of what the original writer actually wanted to say, since I know nothing about Saudi Arabian royal history.

I'm going to see if I can hunt down the actual editor who put this article together.

Bandar bin Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Saud

Either Bandar bin Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Saud (born 1923) or Bandar bin Abdulaziz Al Saud (born 1926) died on 18 March 2016. Does anyone know which one ? --Racklever (talk) 22:05, 20 March 2016 (UTC)

And you continue to make a mess out of it! Bandar bin Abdulaziz was born in 1923 and Bandar bin Saud in 1926. It seems that even the Royal Court has lost control of who is prince and who is not. The cited source says clearly "the tenth son of the first monarch of Saudi Arabia, King Abdulaziz." and "the eldest surviving member of the ruling branch of the House of Saud." which both speaks out for Bandar bin Abulaziz. But it also says clearly "Saudi Prince Bandar Bin Saud Bin Abdulaziz" and "Dies At Age 90" which is a sign for Bandar bin Saud. So its 2:2. And this just weeks after the deathnotice of Prince Mishal where it is still not clear if it is true too. With the newest link to the Saudi Gazzette it seems a bit more that you are right. But I can not understand how you can be so sure with this confusing articles. To oppose you I could say some sources appear to be confused about the name or the birth year. Both not rare in House of Saud. It is far more likely to get a birth year wrong then the fact that a son of King Abelaziz died. And in fact there are only two sources and not some. The Press Release of the Royal Court with all mistakes I pointed out above, which was posted in the same wording on various plattforms. And the newer "funeral prayers" article in the Saudi Gazzette. Do you have a source for the birth year of Bandar bin Saud? (prefered before his death) And as you seem to have some knowledge about House of Saud, what do you think about the reported Death of Prince Mishal bin Abulaziz? I have no special knowledge except a general interest in the subject. I would say, simply follow the sources as well as possible. As noted above, the sources have been consistent on the name, and the name itself makes the relationship clear (Bandar, son of Saud, son of Abdulaziz, of the House of Saud). Do we have better info from Arabic-language sources?

Regarding Mishaal, I've been reverting edits reporting his death simply because none of those edits provided any sources for the claim, and I never found any in my own searches. In this case, it is simply erring on the side of caution. --Finngall ^talk 22:38, 21 March 2016 (UTC)

You know that there is a source for Mishaals death and was from the first day? You can question the reliability of this source but you can not question that there is one! And in the case of prince bandar you say that the royal court is not able to figure out who is the son of King Abdelaziz and who is not. But you are sure that they do write his name in the right way? Its not that far from Bandar bin Abdelaziz Al Saud to Bandar bin Saud bin Abdelaziz.--Dangermouse600 (talk) 11:13, 22 March 2016 (UTC)

His obituary did state he was 95 years not 96.

The above apparently references the subject of this article,Bandar bin Abdulaziz Al Saud,and not the person who this section of the comments page is concerned with his being confused with,Bandar bin Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.I note that the articles on both princes say that at death they were the eldest surviving member of the ruling branch of the House of Saud,yet the one who died later(1923-2019) was always older than the one who died first(1926-2016)...if genealogical seniority is meant for Bandar bin Saud,rather than age,then it's still wrong because he was survived by at least one male-line descendant of his father's older brother Turki (I),but it would also not apply to Bandar bin Abdulaziz since his older brothers also have male line descendants,and if one criterion is used for one prince and the other for the other,pure confusion.12.144.5.2 (talk) 16:30, 31 July 2019 (UTC)

Orphaned references in Bandar bin Abdulaziz Al Saud

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Bandar bin Abdulaziz Al Saud's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
