Keep
editPlease don't delete. This article needs some work but Bang Bang was a real and beloved character in Dublin. One (unverified) idea is that his mental illness resulted in his service in the first world war. There are many references to him in Irish culture and histories of the middle of the twentieth century. Perhaps someone could help this article? Rpersse 23:44, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
- I'm very glad to see that this article wasn't deleted. He was a very well-known character, with a much higher profile than many politicians. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 22:59, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
MORE PROOF AVAILABLE
edityears ago when this article was up for deletion, I took up the matter with the long-term newspaper seller (now gone) on Wicklow St. Andrew St. corner. He said I could get enough proof to retain this article in one of the pubs on Thomas St. which has some photos of bang bang in action hanging up. I honestly didn't get a chance to get up there if anyone cares to take up the challenge I'll make the effort now as I see the article lacks and deserves a visual still. I saw bang-bang myself as a kid c. 1966 - it was quite novel, the whole public atmosphere changed - lots of laughing and shooting, he was quite theatrical — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.45.121.97 (talk) 00:00, 23 April 2015 (UTC)

Bang Bang
editI too remember Bang Bang and only last year learnt that his real name was Thomas Dudley. I have lived in Australia for most of my life and have also written a song about him. As you say - he was well-loved character.175.38.200.46 (talk) 03:08, 15 May 2015 (UTC)
