I removed the following from the Baptist Peace Fellowship article and am pasting it here for now. Steve evidently wants all to know that he is a supporter. - Rlvaughn 23:06, 8 Feb 2005 (UTC)

"Let it be known that Steve Broadwell is a strong supporter of the BPFNA. He is proud to be associated with the only group of baptists that openly voted for John Kerry."

Hi, Rlvaughn,

Wanted to catch you up: this is Steve Broadwell just over ten years later. Still going strong, and I thought you should know that I'm still proud to be associated with these same baptists, and John Kerry, too, I think... Get at your boy.

Glen Stassen

edit

My memory is vague here, but I do remember that Harold Stassen was the President of the American Baptist Churches. Was Glen Stassen the father of or the son of (or in some other familial relationship to) Harold Stassen?

Mennonites

edit

Are not Mennonites considered to be part of the Anabaptist movement and therefore invited to be participants in the BPF ... or at least have a link to the Anabaptists today section of the above article?

--MaxHund July 6, 2005 08:50 (UTC) (a Baptist PK who became a Quaker)

The Mennonites are indeed part of the Anabaptist tradition. However, the Baptist churches are historically linked to the English Separatist movement of the 16th century. Interestingly, John Smyth (who founded the Baptist church in England) moved away from him Baptist views and sought to join the Mennonite church. He died before doing so, but many of his early followers did. 68.113.47.11 (talk) 21:59, 25 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Other Christian Peace Fellowships

edit

Wouldn't it be relevant to include the other Christian Peace Fellowships as external links? such as [1],[2], [3], [4], [5], and [6].

--MaxHund July 6, 2005 08:50 (UTC)

I would think a reasonable approach would be to write brief (or longer as one is led and able) but encyclopedic articles on each of these groups for Wikipedia, and to create a category (or even so that pages on similar non-Christian groups such as the Muslim Peace Fellowship could be included). Then each group's own website could be linked to where it was immediately relevant (External Links lists on any given page should be kept short, they say). I may do just this one of these days if none of you beat me to the punch... but by all means do, "one of these days" is sometimes a long long time. --Haruo 17:34, 20 August 2005 (UTC)Reply
