Starting with surgery, she completed fellowships in both Surgical Oncology and Endoscopy at Columbia University Medical Center. Sixteen years later, she completed a residency in psychiatry at Columbia, while concurrently studying psychotherapy at the Institute for Psychoanalytic Education in New York. For coursework in forensic psychiatry, she completed a fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles. Justice is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology in General Adult Psychiatry and certified by the American Board of Forensic Psychiatry.. She is also certified as a Qualified Medical Examiner (Q.M.E.) in the state of California she is also certified in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy.
Justice practiced oncological surgery for 16 years in New York City and became well known as the host of Medical View and You, a live call-in show on health issues for WLIB, New York. Evaluating patients for potential surgery, she began to see signs of the AIDS virus in a significant number of men. She became one of the few physicians treating AIDS at the onset of its outbreak, and searching for answers, was involved with administering clinical trials for the National Institute of Health as well as the Kenya Medical Research Institute, which she represented in the US. Justice has lectured internationally about HIV and intervention.
Transitioning to psychiatry, Justice saw the need to strengthen the small community of African-American forensic psychiatrists by joining it. She also became one of a small group of women entering this field. She moved to Los Angeles in 2005 to do a fellowship in forensic psychiatry at UCLA, and then stayed in California. She evaluates patients referred by the court at the Metropolitan State Hospital in Norwalk, treats them, and testifies at trial about their competency. Part of her case load comes from Glaser Forensic Group, a leading provider of forensic psychiatric and psychological services in Southern California where Justice serves on the evaluating team. In her private practice, with offices in both Whittier and Burbank, Justice provides psychopharmacological and psychodynamic psychotherapy treatment for adults, children and adolescents.
