POV-Check Discussion

edit

This article seems to have a bias against the subject, most especially marked in the final passage of the "Beliefs" section where it is written, "The frightening audaciousness of this passage is mitigated a bit by context. The "we" is not human, but divine," which, when taken with the quote before it, clearly takes an opinionated bias against her work. -24.131.216.149 (talk) 02:34, 28 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

That has been fixed so I removed the template, and added a call for more citations from third-party sources. --NealMcB (talk) 05:22, 25 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Politics

edit

About the only statement about her political activity must be wrong. Eisenhower was not President until 1953. At the same time, no mention is made of her 1984 campaign to be the Democratic nominee for Vice President, when she succeeded in getting about 200 delegates to vote for her, IIRC. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.50.151.142 (talk) 13:17, 11 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

"L'Ecole des Sciences Politiques at La Sorbonne "

edit

The statement "L'Ecole des Sciences Politiques at La Sorbonne" must be mistaken. ESP [now IEP] is a grande ecole. It's not part of the university system, which is where the Sorbonne is. --Duncan (talk) 16:40, 8 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

She is a prominent New Age teacher - why is the article censored?

edit

Google test for "barbara marx hubbard new age" returns 60,000 hits. She is the author of videos such as "The Complete Guide to Channeling" http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Channeling-Lazaris-Barbara-Hubbard/dp/B000DZQIU8 (Channeling (mediumistic) is the occult practice of calling upon spirits) and "VISIONS of a Universal Humanity". I wonder why such info is missing from this "futurist"'s article. 71.167.173.162 (talk) 10:52, 18 January 2011 (UTC) Many of those "hits" are for Barbara Marx — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.83.35.137 (talk) 13:51, 1 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

@74.83.35.137

No, they are not.

they used quotes.

this article is extremely biased, and fails to mention the channeling which is what made this women to legendary. 24.9.67.157 (talk) 22:02, 2 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Notability

edit

- The article has been edited, with secondary sources added. I wonder if the Notably tag should now be removed? Any reasons to still keep this tag? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gil Dekel (talkcontribs) 17:20, 12 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

- As there is no objection expressed, and as the article provides now secondary sources, I will go ahead and remove the Notability tag.

Career and MULTIMEDIA sections highly deficient

edit

The career section has a promotional rather than an encyclopedic tone. The first paragraph contains no references whatsoever for any of its assertions. The only reference provided in the career section does not support any actual information about Hubbard except that the article itself was written about her. The Multimedia section looks out of place, inappropriate, and promotional (as though this is her CV).Cobracommander9 (talk) 21:16, 23 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Mentioned but omitted/neglected in the article

edit

Would someone please outline what Barbara Marx Hubbard viewed as the prior stages of human evolution? I’ve been interested in the thoughts of a number of philosopher/futurists — including Arthur M. Young, Gerald Heard, Teilhard de Chardin, Aldous Huxley, Lancelot Law Whyte and Lewis Mumford — but have never read any of Hubbard’s books or articles. Thanks to anyone who considers taking this on.Joel Russ (talk) 19:41, 6 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
