This article is kind of a mess - what can we do to improve it? It's clumsily worded and is likely incomprehensible to one who is not a fan of "Dark Shadows." CassieBlue 15:19, 8 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

I tried to straighten up the beginning. Somebody should remove those funny looking boxes, though AdrianaInes 8:14 13 September 2005 (UTC)

SUGGESTED SOLUTION

edit

After the section detailing Barnabas' confinement and return, perhaps most of the sections dealing with the various plotlines should be moved to the Dark Shadows entry?MARK VENTURE (talk) 17:03, 24 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

BARNABAS IS IMPULSIVE

edit

I hope my comments can resolve any dispute involving Barnabas' "personality". In the episode where Barnabas is preparing for his duel with his uncle Jeremiah, Barnabas is discussing with Angelique why he insisted on a duel. He said: "I will not sit here accepting this, hating to be with anybody because I know, whoever it is, will be thinking 'Poor, Barnabas...' I will not be 'Poor, Barnabas...'! I won't even think of what's right or wrong, I must move, ACT, I must to do something!" This points out that Barnabas had a tendency to respond to stressful events with impulsive actions and this had nothing to do with his vampirism. He loved Josette, but when he thought it was over between them, he turned to a torrid affair with Angelique, although it could just as easily been someone else. When speaking to the ghost of his sister, he claimed he only killed when there was "no other way" but Sarah boldly told him "That's not true, Barnabas...". So, I hope this helps. Barnabas is very much like his father, Joshua, who is harsh and uncompromising, but Barnabas is far more impulsive and usually does things without first thinking about them thoroughly; or perhaps he really doesn't care, just as long as he is satisfied. This might be what Jonathan Frid meant when he said that Barnabas lied to himself.MARK VENTURE (talk) 18:02, 22 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

almost completely unreferenced

edit

There is a single source for one small part from an issue of TV Guide. There are many books out there, and Reliably Sourced magazine articles, on Dark Shadows and its characters. This should be addressed promptly, as it reads as Original Research in its present form (May 2016). I've tagged the article, and this tag should not be removed until this issue is resolved.
