PRIDE OF THE GHETTO
editWhy is the nickname 'pride of the ghetto' not referenced?
Ross was not a rabbinical student. He has never been officially trained for the rabbinate. He did however, receive a Jewish education, obtained mostly from his father. He spoke enough Hebrew to "daven" and fluent Yiddish.
His autobiography, No Man Stands Alone (1957), should have been cited in References/Further Reading.
It is, I think, significant that from his release from Lexington to the time of his death, Ross was almost always broke. He borrowed heavily from his friends, notably childhood pal Ira Colitz, a Chicago mover and shaker. He drank heavily in this period, as noted by Eddie Fisher in his autobiography, Eddie: My Life, My Loves (1981). When Ross entered the Chicago VA hospital before his death, it was to treat acute cirrhosis of the liver. The doctors found advanced cancer in his jaw, which is what he finally succumbed to. 69.230.56.77 (talk) 20:03, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
Some citations, please, for the WWII section?
editI'm a guy who just today heard about Barney Ross for the first time, because of the extra notes on the DVD of the 1947 film Body and Soul. The whole WWII section of this wikipedia article here on Ross really needs some proper citations from someone in the know. I mean, it's inspiring, for sure;.......but without the proper citations it comes off reading like an ad -- you know, as phony -- and I really doubt that's the case. Would be great if someone can shore it up with some cites. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.1.233.247 (talk) 20:16, 19 July 2016 (UTC)

Rosofsky or Rasofsky?
editBoth versions of the last name are alternatively used in the article. Very confusing. Kumagoro-42 (talk) 12:16, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
