I note that the date for the Army (Royal Engineers) leaving the camp north of the A30 at Barton Stacey is incorrect. It says 'it was gifted to the Parish when the Army left in the 1970's.' I was there myself between 1981-1983. The wooden hutted barracks built in 1943 which we all occupied, were demolished in 1989. Along with the larger brick built buildings (Officers/Sergeants Mess/Regimental HQ's/Cookhouse etc. And the hangars for the vehicles and stores.
