Switzerland-centric

edit

The article simply describes historical military field drums of the 18th and 19th century, but claims they are somehow unique to Switzerland. Drums exactly as described were used by armies all around the world for centuries. This article needs to be merged into Fife and drum corps or Snare drum Ironmatic1 (talk) 05:42, 27 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Very reasonable suggestions. Either would work, but I think that snare drum is the better target, as the primary focus is the drum rather than the culture of the musical groups in which it is played. Klbrain (talk) 14:13, 10 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, I removed the merge proposals, mainly because there is a significant body of literature about this specific type of snare drum's development and idiosyncratic rudimental style (albeit under the more common name "Basel" not "Basler" drum). Here are a few sources as proof, which I'll add within the next few days: [1][2][3]. Why? I Ask (talk) 09:36, 25 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
