What a nasty and thoughtless way of expressing things

edit

"The reigning gold medallists from the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia, in both the men's and women's event, the United States failed to retain its men's title, which went to Argentina, but successfully defended its women's title. Both the men's and women's gold medal games were held on August 28, 2004."

"The United States failed to retain its men's title" is a nasty way of denigrating the efforts of the Argentinian team and the team that finished in second place, too. There is no justification behind assuming that the championship somehow "belonged" to the Americans to begin with. All of the teams entered the tournament on an equal footing, and the Argentinians simply played to the best of their abilities, and they won the gold medal fair and square, including with an 89 - 81 face-to-face victory over the Americans.
Likewise, the Italian team that won the silver medal fair and square on their own efforts.
There is no need to insult the Argentineans, the Italians, or the Americans.

If someone does not change the slanderous way that this article is presently written within a couple of days, then I will.
