A fact from Fort Vasai appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 31 August 2005. The text of the entry was as follows:
|
"Center of Portuguese operations in South Asia...."
editThe claim that the Fort was the "Center of Portuguese operations in South Asia" is nonsensical. While the Portuguese India government had several capitols before settling on Velha Goa and Panaji, it never centered on the Bassein Fort. Rather, the fort was the seat of one of the subordinate governments, the Captaincy and Court of the North, under the Captain of the North. Is this claim of the fort having been "center of Portuguese operations in India" a part of the fabled "Wikiality"? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 116.73.174.222 (talk) 11:48, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
