Editor's whitewashing game's use of gender pronoun and controversy
editDespite the fact that this game has been novel in its use of a transgender pronoun for player characters, something it's own developers have spoken to, something that has been recorded in the press, something that is evident within the first 2 minutes of gameplay, edits that suggest this on the Wikipedia page are being removed.
The sources cited for the existence of the abovementioned fact are primary and secondary. The primary sources refer to the actual commentary surrounding the decision by the developers to include transgenderism into character creation. I.E., the sentence referring to commentary is supported by the commentary it is referring to. You can't get anything more concrete than a primary source to evidence the existence of that fact. Then there are secondary sources, journalists online, which are regarded within the gaming industry as industry standard.
The editors removing this content are acting naively or in bad faith. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BaronRobie (talk • contribs) 15:56, 28 April 2018 (UTC)
- The non-binary gender menu option and the imaginary "controversy" it supposedly caused is not notable at all. It's a single dropdown menu option in the character creation screen at the beginning of the game that has absolutely no bearing or effect on anything in the story or the gameplay whatsoever, and is not even a novel or unique feature (non-binary gender options in games has been a thing since Ultima 3). A handful of negative Steam reviews posted by some alt-right trolls hardly qualifies as a "controversy" and the editor who insists on keeping this on the page obviously has a personal motive, as evidenced by their contribs. 2601:2C4:C480:19E7:3C28:642F:8E23:60FC (talk) 14:07, 14 September 2019 (UTC)
