British Commander
editWhile Wilson states that a Major William Gardner of the 60th was in command, there was no Major William Gardner in the 60th (or any other regular regiment) in 1778-1779. Concerning edit I just undid
editSomeone only a few hours ago came and deliberately changed all the W's to vv, many times disregarding capitalization, even changing links to read "correctly" in the new fashion, e.g. "Nevv York City". Perhaps this was an experiment to see how fast the revision would be caught, I only stumbled onto this page from reading an article about the movie The Big Chill and where it takes place, otherwise I would never have noticed all these "typos"; then I look at the edits page and they are all from a single edit Nov 18, 2022, so this all just happened recently, in the past few hours. If we have people deliberately changing the articles like this, Wikipedia will cease to have any functionality. The "editor" should be reported and shut down before more such edits happen. - Thanks for fixing things, although you missed some of the vandal's other creative alterations. This sort of stuff is unfortunately all too common. Magic♪piano 18:16, 19 November 2022 (UTC)
Thank you, much appreciated for finding the other alterations. Deliusfan (talk) 18:35, 20 November 2022 (UTC)
