editOrder of battle
editRegarding the complaint posted on the order of battle: The list badly needed to be wikified, and I tried to organize things by squadron (to avoid a duplicate long list of ships in the middle of the article). I did not realize the original order was important; my apologies. I have a long weekend vacation coming up; is no-one has fixed the article before i come back, I plan to put the ships back in a table with column headings as follows:
- Order
- Name
- Type
- Captain
- Squadron
- Comments
Will this do? Sysin 15:48, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Ok, I have added a table with the Russian ships (in order) listed. I think all the information is now in there but in case I missed something the old text is below. I don't think there is enough info for a table for the Turkish - I'll work the information into the text.

More info
editI found a history of the Russian Navy with a page on the Battle of Chesma. This may be useful for fact checking and giving sources. Does anybody have better references? Andreww 23:42, 6 August 2005 (UTC)
My reference is the "Naval Battles in the Levant 1559-1853" for all of the battles in this area. Most battles don't seem to be even mentioned anywhere else, let alone described in detail. I prefer a table or list showing both fleets, rather than the way the page is now, with one in a table and one in the text, but oh well. SpookyMulder 15:06, 11 October 2005 (UTC)
Where exactly was it?
editIt would be nice if someone actually pointed out exactly where in Ceshme this battle took place. I have been going there for the summers for years, and there is no mention or trace of this catastrophy (depends on one's point of view I realize!) and I can not find any info where exactly this battle took place (not that I searched it that exhaustively). All I know is that in most of the waters around Ceshme one can not anchor or dive, the area is protected. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.77.162.23 (talk) 01:25, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
