Can we drop the stub notifications?
editThis article seems to be well developed. I think it is time to drop the stub templates. Anyone disagree? --The Jacobin (talk) 04:04, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
- I agree the stub templates should be dropped. atm, the article should be upgraded to Start-class.EasyPeasy21 (talk) 17:21, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
Coordinates
editPer the Handbook of Texas and the Texas Historical Commission park site page, there is a cotton gin screw (a long, large iron shaft) stuck in the ground at the Fannin Battleground State Historic Site marking the site of the battle. The screw was implanted in 1894 to replace a pile of rocks which was placed there by a survivor of the battle to mark the site. Both the Handbook and the park site page are careful to say that the information is uncertain. This and this blog page claim to be by an archaeologist who did a survey of the site in May-June, 2011, and confirmed that the site of the battle (at least the Texas square formation) is within the present-day park site. I'm looking for a reliably-published report of that work, however, before adding the coordinates to the article here. There's a detailed map of the park available here, by the way. Discrepancy of Number Killed in Goliad Massacre?
editIn Aftermath section: "On Palm Sunday, March 27, 1836, Fannin and about 340 other Texian prisoners were shot by Mexican soldiers." vs first sentence on this page: "The Goliad massacre was an event that occurred on March 27, 1836, during the Texas Revolution, followed the Battle of Goliad in which 425-445 prisoners of war from the Texian Army of the Republic of Texas were killed by the Mexican Army in the town of Goliad, Texas." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goliad_massacre
Not sure which is correct.
