editWhat is the relevance of "the execution of a major air colonel", and also, what is a major air colonel? Is this an air force major, an air force colonel, or some other non-standard rank? Why did his death result in a tightening of the siege? Cheers, Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 01:09, 21 November 2018 (UTC)
- @Peacemaker67: I just rephrased it to give it a clearer meaning. As for why his death resulted in the tightening of the siege, i don't know. Here's the relevant text of the source ( https://www.libyaherald.com/2017/08/06/un-says-it-is-concerned-about-lna-siege-of-derna/ ):
The town, controlled by Islamist mujahideen, has been subject to a blockade by the Libyan National Army. However, this was tightened last week following the execution by the mujahideen of the LNA’s Air Colonel Adel Jehani whose plane was shot down near the town. Responding to the killing, the head of the Omar Mukhtar Operations Room tasked with taking Derna, Brigadier Salem Rifadi, last Sunday declared a total blockade. No food, medicines, cooking gas, petrol or anything else would be allowed in, he said. By the way, I meant "important air colonel" when i first wrote that, but i now realize that i only assumed that he was important, so now he is just an air colonel. - I would add that he was shot down near the town, as that is useful context. Cheers, Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 07:38, 21 November 2018 (UTC)
