Five Forks a Decisive Victory

edit

The Battle of Five Forks is a decisive victory for the Union as, said in the introduction paragraphs in the beginning of the article: " Pickett's loss at Five Forks triggered Lee's decision to abandon his entrenchments around Petersburg and begin the retreat that led to his surrender at Appomattox Court House on April 9."--Red Wiki 14:49, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Task force?

edit

The article refers to Sheridan's command as a "task force," which is the proper term by current standards. However, I don't think that the term was in use at the time. If not, wouldn't it be better simply to call it V Corp, as that appears to be what it was. JDZeff (talk) 20:28, 3 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

New shortened lede 16/8/18

edit

The old lede was longer and more detailed than any lede ought to be. It may have been roughly in proportion to the length of the article, but I feel that the article itself was far too long, bringing in many events before and after, which were not strictly on-topic.
