A fact from Battle of Gingindlovu appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 1 December 2005. The text of the entry was as follows:
|
As it stands (Dec 1, 2005), this account is written entirely from the perspective of the British. While scarcity of sources makes it a little difficult to write this from a neutral point of view, it seems rather necessary to warn the reader about the perspective taken; hence the sentence added in the first paragraph. Gingindlovu
editWhy does Gingindlovu redirect here? Gingindlovu is the name of a town where I think the battle took place. Bezuidenhout (talk) 15:09, 17 September 2010 (UTC)

Correcting The Article
editI've noticed that some of the descriptions of the battle do not match any of the listed sources, so I've begun to correct and enhance the article using a detailed source, Ian Knight and Ian Castle's 1994 book Fearful Hard Times: The Siege and Relief of Eshowe, 1879. I will continue to do so, but I welcome the feedback of others. TH1980 (talk) 23:05, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for the work, I have Rothwell, J. S. (1989) [1881]. Narrative of the Field Operations connected with the Zulu War of 1879 Prepared in the Intelligence Branch of the War Office (facs. repr. Lionel Leventhal, London ed.). London: War Office. ISBN 1-85367-041-3 and Lock, R. (1995). Blood on the Painted Mountain: Zulu Victory and Defeat, Hlobane and Kambula, 1879. London: Greenhill Books. ISBN 1-85367-201-7 with which I've been doing a desultory citation addition to the Zulu War articles but not much more. If you want to improve the articles please do, I'll help where I can. - Many thanks, Keith. I'll also be mindful of my comma usage! :-) TH1980 (talk) 03:09, 25 June 2023 (UTC)
