Japanese casualties

That figure of "150+ killed" in the battlebox is impossibly low. Grant | Talk 07:15, 9 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

The relevant Australian official history quotes the Historical Section of the U.K. Cabinet Office as estimating a total 15,000 Japanese casualties for the Southern Expeditionary Army in the Philippines, Dutch East Indies, Malaya, Singapore (etc) campaigns during December 1941-April 1942. That suggests about 3,000-4,000 Japanese casualties in the Netherlands East Indies campaign. But no precise source or breakdown by geographical area is provided. Casualty numbers

If the US 'strength' was 750, it seems unlikely that 825 were killed and 1,067 captured. 90.240.143.251 (talk) 21:21, 16 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
