One step before afd
editSame with Battle of Lyncestis: without a decent citation this will sonner or latter go to afd.Alexikoua (talk) 11:01, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
- I've added some links. Let me know if you think it's not enough. The battle was quite important.--Hyphantes (talk) 10:31, 29 September 2014 (UTC)
- I don't see any decent reference, in fact no ref was added. So, it's a clear afd case.Alexikoua (talk) 14:01, 29 September 2014 (UTC)
- Although decent reference are urgently needed here, it appears that there is some mention in historical bibliography about this naval battle. Off course I can't find anywhere written that Corfu was conquered by Illyrians.Alexikoua (talk) 14:08, 29 September 2014 (UTC)
- Excuse me, I'm not so much into wiki-abbreviations. Could you please tell me what afd means or where I can find more info on that procedure? --Hyphantes (talk) 23:22, 29 September 2014 (UTC)
- (wp:afd). The supposed Illyrian conquest of Corfy appears to be completely non-historical by the way.Alexikoua (talk) 13:05, 30 September 2014 (UTC)

You almost had me convinced that you were talking seriously, but now I think that you're kidding. Have you any source to support that curious opinion? If you can't find a voice on Google, this doesn't mean that it never existed! Since Polybius refers the place of the battle as "off Paxoi" (using the plural because there is also Antipaxos), it is historiographic standard procedure to name it like that. Check Margos of Keryneia and you will find that every description of his career, from Polybius on, states that he ended his life in the "Battle of Paxos". I don't think that it is useful that you put tags like "complete citation needed" on notes that are completely matching. If you don't understand the scientific citation system of ancient sources you might simply refrain from putting tags on those articles!--Hyphantes (talk) 14:17, 30 September 2014 (UTC)
- (ignore trolling) I've asked for a reference on the supposed Illyrian conquest of Corfu, but as I've imagined there is no ref to support it.Alexikoua (talk) 15:34, 30 September 2014 (UTC)
- The current form of the article contains serious pov issues, for example it assumes that there was some kind of Illyrian domination reaching the Corinthian gulf. Something off course without reference. Moreover, the capture of Phoenice was very short lived and the city returned to Greek control before the naval battle took place (Epirus wasn't under Illyrian control).Alexikoua (talk) 16:23, 30 September 2014 (UTC)

Nothing of what you state is true, neither assumed in the article, nor suggested. If anybody is pushing povs here it is you. As a start, Corfu is an Italian name from the Medieval era. It has absolutely nothing to do in this article, otherwise we'll start writing that Constantine chose Istanbul as his new capital for the Roman Empire. I would ask you to revert these pov denominations asap, otherwise I'll be forced to revert your edits on the whole. But I don't want to be totally negative, so I have to say that I'm pleased to see that you studied a bit. Now cool down a bit more. Don't be ridiculous: No Illyrian will come along claiming Corfu for Albania, because they possessed it for a month or two in 229 BC.--Hyphantes (talk) 18:29, 30 September 2014 (UTC)
- I've fixed some poorly referenced (or non-referenced) claims such as the Illyrian conquest of the island or that of Epirus. Corfu is the modern english name of the island, but in general I have not problem to mention the ancient name.Alexikoua (talk) 20:29, 30 September 2014 (UTC)
You started threatening afd procedure, but now you're laying a lot of effort in this article. That's good!--Hyphantes (talk) 23:09, 30 September 2014 (UTC)
