Whitman version?
editI have a few of the supposed Gold Key comics but they're listed as Whitman? They're from the same era, and the covers look to be identical, other than the logo being changed to Whitman. Not sure what store they were bought at, but it would have had to be somewhere in Michigan.19:11, 20 May 2017 (UTC)~ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.18.173.40 (talk)

Cover image for the Golden series
editOkay, this is a bit tedious but still. Polling consensus for which cover to use for the Golden series.
- @Aspects favours File:Battle_of_the_Planets_no_1.jpg. Reasons given in edit history of this article so far are:
- "rv unexplained file change back to number one issue"
- I wasn't aware explanations were necessary any more than they have been when covers have been replaced on numerous other comics pages, or the general overhaul given to what, IMHO, was a confusing article with its' nonsensical one-size-doesn't-fit-all sections and whatever. No-one has objected when I've done so on myriad other articles, but if this is some violation of protocol I apologise and will bear it in mind in the future.
- "rv file change per WP:BRD back to preferred first edition that has been on Wikipedia for fifteen years"
- I am unaware of any attempt to find consensus previously, hence this and having left a message on the user's talk page following a second revert. I feel that "preferred" is subjective and the length of time the file has been on Wikipedia is as irrelevant as however many years an article is left in an unsatisfactory state.
I am hoping the user either adds a rationale for actual positives to the cover here or in response on their talk page. I personally lean towards File:BattleOfThePlanetsGoldKey4.jpg, on the following grounds: -
- While it is a less visually impressive cover it is more representative of the comics themselves, being drawn by Golden staff rather than what appears to be a repurposed promotional image from the TV version/s. For the record if there were any covers by the interior artists for the Top Cow comics I'd be doing that as well as obviously the interiors don't really look like the Alex Ross covers...
- It still features all five main characters, hence its' selection over other non-collage Golden covers.
- It has an attributable artist in Winslow Mortimer.
I am unaware of any particular guidelines for which covers should be used for pages on Wikipedia (e.g. any rationale that the first issue should always be used). So, to save time for both of us editing and reverting and all that boring crap, so... what does anyone else think? #1 or #4? BoomboxTestarossa (talk) 10:56, 14 May 2023 (UTC)
