Reliable sources
edit- If a photo of a porpoise sledge in use in 1944, is not a reliable source, I am done here.
- If a Russian book on a Russian sled is not a reliable source, I am done here.
I will let others have the page. Telecine Guy (talk) 00:52, 4 November 2023 (UTC)
- What is the source of the photograph? Who took it? Where was it taken? How do we know it was taken in 1944? How do we know what it is showing? How do we know the sled was used in WW2? We need more than just a photograph.
- Regarding the book citation, a scan or an excerpt from that source would go a long way. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 02:47, 4 November 2023 (UTC)
- Porpoise sledge photo is from D-Day, by Armoured Vehicle Royal Engineers, see [1] and [2] Telecine Guy (talk) 04:41, 11 December 2023 (UTC)
- Random websites are not reliable sources. You really need to read the Wikipedia:Reliable sources guidelines. If you don't believe me, please link Talk:Battle_sled#Reliable_sources on Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard and ask for the community's input. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 05:03, 11 December 2023 (UTC)
- A restored porpoise sledge is on display at Musées America & Gold Beach in Ver-sur-Mer, France. The Gold Beach porpoise sledge inauguration ceremony was on June 30, 2012. Telecine Guy (talk) 04:50, 11 December 2023 (UTC)
- Removed photo of porpoise sledge:(a number of refs have also been removed)Telecine Guy (talk)
Amount of use
editThe lead section of the article says they were used by multiple combatants. But, reading the body of the article, I don't get the impression they were used very much by anyone. Several of the described uses were just tests, not widespread deployments. Were these in common use by any military? — BarrelProof (talk) 17:45, 28 August 2024 (UTC)
