Bay Bridge Series → Athletics–Giants rivalry – The rivalry between the two teams will still exist in the short term (at least through 2027), though the scope of the rivalry will be zoomed out from the Bay Area (San Francisco/Oakland) to that of Northern California (San Francisco/Sacramento), being that the A's will play in West Sacramento for at least the next 3 seasons. By changing the name of the page to only include the team names, the scope of the article can better accommodate the new SF/Sacramento reality beginning next year.
The Bay Bridge Series is now firmly in the past, but maybe the page move should be delayed until the two teams meet again (whether that be moving the page on the day of the next game of May 16, 2025 or before Spring Training 2025). Alternatively, maybe it's better for it to be effective immediately since the "Bay Bridge Series" is now in the past. Spesh531(talk, contrib., ext.) 21:30, 19 August 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. - Support – proposed title has consistency with similar articles, such as Yankees–Red Sox rivalry, Dodgers–Yankees rivalry, Cubs–White Sox rivalry, et al. And I see no need to delay into next year, as Bay Bridge Series would redirect to the new title. Dmoore5556 (talk) 23:27, 19 August 2024 (UTC)

- Retarget to 1989 World Series. Support if that means the first meeting should include
when the Philadelphia Athletics and New York Giants first played eachother.
And, yeah, it's "Dodgers–Yankees rivalry" because "subway series" is a sandwich line! LOL wbm1058 (talk) 13:01, 20 August 2024 (UTC)- It was honestly this change from yesterday that changed the "First meeting" from the 1905 World Series to the 1989 World Series that prompted me to pose the question of moving the page. WCCasey was correct in his edit to focus the infobox to the "Bay Bridge Series" and remove the mention of 1905 (and remove the Next Meeting: 2025) because that's the current focus of the page, but this rivalry won't end with the Bay Bridge Series so... Spesh531(talk, contrib., ext.) 20:14, 20 August 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose. The Bay Bridge Series had no relationship to any rivalry that may have existed before both teams moved to the Bay Area. Physical proximity created the Bay Bridge rivalry, and there will be no more rivalry after the A's move away. WCCasey (talk) 01:10, 21 August 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose unless the rivalry continues to exist after the Athletics move to Las Vegas. If the rivalry instead becomes 'historical', the page title, and the whole scope of the article for that matter, should be consistent with the other historical rivalry articles City Series (Philadelphia) and Pearson Cup in MLB, I-5 rivalry in the NBA, Battle of Quebec (ice hockey) in the NHL, and Governor's Cup (Missouri) in the NFL. Zzyzx11 (talk) 16:20, 27 August 2024 (UTC)
- Weak support Given a rivalry is likely to still exist when they are in Sacramento, before moving to Las Vegas. Also, 49ers-Raiders rivalry exists, despite a team from Oakland relocating to Las Vegas.99.196.129.168 (talk) 18:50, 28 August 2024 (UTC)
Separate subjects
editI disagree with the beginning statement and premise of this article: "The Athletics–Giants rivalry . . .". The article title is Bay Bridge Series, and the only subject is the Bay Bridge Series. It was a rivalry based exclusively on the geographic proximity of the two teams and their overlapping fan bases. There was no "Athletics–Giants rivalry" before the A's moved to Oakland, and any continuation of that rivalry now that the Athletics are moving to Las Vegas will be only because Bay Area A's fans are not all going to move to Las Vegas.
