The 'Taxonomic range' section sketches out the wide diversity of legumes called beans, and the table there is clearly essential to enable readers to glimpse that the term has far larger extension than, say, soybeans or broad beans that they may be familiar with. Similarly in 'Production', tables indicate production of the major types of bean, production by country, and dry beans by country, showing the commercially important aspects of the subject.
