HUNTER.....???... GET REAL !!!! Some traditional hunters who purely hunt for food, doesn't understand the pride the so called " self praising self honoring Great hunter" who hunt the animal with rifle just for fun. We hunting animal since the beginning of human history , but not hunting the so called Game Animal, only when the circumstance made them do so, and usually in a group. Many kids in my class i teach looked disgusted when they see the photos of so called great hunter showing off their prize and their toughness. maybe the kids thinking.. "what a little man... next time what?... hunting bear , lion, tiger.. with tank, RPG from inside APC or tank , and they don't have the courage to hunt them with spear or axe or hunting knife ,like the real man, the real hunter did. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.244.49.79 (talk) 08:47, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
Bear duels with knives?
editIn Scandinavia we have sometimes said things like "he grew up wrestling with bears" to indicate that someone is very strong or a capable fighter, but as far as I can tell, that has never been taken in a literal sense. I would be interested to learn where the given sources for these "bear duels" got their information, i.e. what were their primary sources. To me it sounds like someone has misunderstood something. I won't say that nobody has ever fought a bear with only a knife or a stick, but I have never heard that it was done regularly as a "rite of passage", and I doubt the veracity of it. Sounds like romantic bullshit to me, pardon my French, and if nobody can produce primary sources from Scandinavia it should be deleted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.251.27.165 (talk) 08:49, 13 February 2013 (UTC)
Now I've deleted the paragraph about "Knifing" being a method for hunting bears in Scandinavia. I mean, sure, my ancestors were brave, but they weren't idiots. 83.251.27.165 (talk) 10:24, 16 July 2013 (UTC)
