Party colours
editParty colours are given for each member. In doing so, care must be taken to avoid anachronistic use of modern party colours. Party affiliation was a fluid and dynamic concept, and changed throughout the 26 years of the existence of the Province of Canada. Wikipedia:WikiProject Political parties and politicians in Canada/list of parties does not have colours assigned to pre-Confederation parties, so colours have been assigned to each party or group from the range of colours available.
In the table of members for Beauharnois, the following colours have been used:
- Purple: Unionist
- Mauve: Government supporter / "British" Tory
- Dark Grey: Members who changed their affiliation during their term
- Light Red: "English" Liberal
- Red: Parti rouge
- Blue: Parti bleu
- Yellow: Confederation
