The photograph was taken shortly after the death of Pope John Paul II -- FirstPrinciples 03:44, 23 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Image problem

edit

The lower picture on the left is covering some text, I'll try to fix it but I'm not a WikiMaster. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.173.72.139 (talk) 07:28, 7 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Okay, fixed. That was easier than I thought. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.173.72.139 (talk) 07:44, 7 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation

edit

Is there any particular reason for The Beehive to redirect here instead of (say) to Beehive Cluster or Beehive (hairstyle), or perhaps Beehive (disambiguation)?208.98.149.212 (talk) 21:01, 12 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Beehive (New Zealand)The Beehive (New Zealand) – I have never heard The Beehive referred to as Beehive. Even the article opens with The Beehive. Parliament's website calls it The Beehive and it's most commonly referred to as The Beehive from what I've seen scrolling through the sources on this page. 101.98.135.42 (talk) 09:25, 30 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

I can confirm this is true. 101.98.135.42 (talk) 22:42, 30 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
Ah but in WP:THE they say "If a word with a definite article has a different meaning with respect to the same word without the article, the word with article can be used as the name of a Wikipedia article about that meaning, and the word without article can be used as the name of a separate Wikipedia article." Beehive New Zealand has different meaning to The Beehive New Zealand. I consider this move to be in line with WP:THE. Also there is a sort of popuar honey brand in New Zealand called Beehive 101.98.135.42 (talk) 22:44, 30 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
I think you're misinterpreting that. What that means is that The Beehive can theoretically be a different article than Beehive. But nobody has proposed moving this article to "The Beehive". But since "The Beehive" already redirects here, perhaps the disambiguator could be dropped. But as long as the disambiguator is in the title, the article should not have the definite article in it. Yes, thanks. Same what you said above. Schwede66 08:40, 1 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose because the isn't commonly used in article titles, and besides, I could cite many examples of "Beehive" being used without the definite article, usually as an adjective. E.g. "videos Ardern from her Beehive office"[1] --Hazhk (talk) 10:42, 3 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose because if the definite article was added it would not need a disambiguator in parentheses – in other words, if the definite article was added, The Beehive would be fine, and such a renaming would be simply a reversal of the current redirect. My opposition is not because of WP:THE. While definite and indefinite articles are most commonly omitted, the sentence from WP:THE quoted above does allow (but not require) the use of the definite article. The counterpoint to the "White House" example is (geographically) just 3 km away across the Potomac at "The Pentagon". So I say reject this proposal, but if someone wants to make a fresh proposal to rename to "The Beehive", go ahead and we can debate the merits of that. Nurg (talk) 09:33, 5 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
