Affluence
edit"The median yearly household income in 2008 dollars was . . . the highest figure for any neighborhood or city in Los Angeles County." This has to be mentioned in the lead or WP is falling down on the job. BeenAroundAWhile (talk) 21:18, 3 October 2016 (UTC)
- Why? And what does any of that have to do with using a totally subjective term like "affluent"? I'm sure having indoor plumbing is a sign of affluence to some of our readers, whereas to others, the inability to fly to Paris for dinner seems like a lack of it. The guidelines for a lede for a city article indicate it should summarize the most important facts from the article. "Affluent" is unambiguously not a fact. It isn't even a noun. John from Idegon (talk) 22:23, 3 October 2016 (UTC)
- Also, 2008 is too stale to consider comparisons to be valid. John from Idegon (talk) 22:24, 3 October 2016 (UTC)
- @BeenAroundAWhile: Let the readers form their own opinion about the affluence of the community by providing them with information within the article. Calling a city or community affluent in the lead tells us nothing except that people think rich people live there. Very unencyclopedic. Cheers, Fettlemap (talk) 02:40, 4 October 2016 (UTC)
I have no objection to using the name of the above university in the lead and not using the names of the lower-level schools. I think there is a good reason for this because institutions of higher learning are infrequent in neighborhoods. Sincerely, your friend, BeenAroundAWhile (talk) 02:29, 25 October 2016 (UTC)
- IMO, this is pretty close to DFTT territory. Ping Magnolia677. John from Idegon (talk) 03:09, 25 October 2016 (UTC)
- That means the Wikipedia:Deny recognition essay, I guess. What is the connection? BeenAroundAWhile (talk) 17:21, 25 October 2016 (UTC)
- Is there some particular significance to the university in the context of the neighborhood? Is the neighborhood particularly known because of this institution? It seems to me the answer to these questions is no, so the specific mention of it in the lede is UNDUE and should be removed. James (talk/contribs) 18:59, 25 October 2016 (UTC)
- I see your point and have rewritten the intro per WP:Lead. Feel free to improve it. Sincerely, your friend,BeenAroundAWhile (talk) 07:50, 26 October 2016 (UTC)

photos of 10452 Bellagio Road
editformer home of the Beach Boys' Brian Wilson, where many of the band's albums were recorded (everything from 1967–73). also the former home of Edgar Rice Burroughs. can anyone upload any photos of it? I've found this but can't identify the origin. The quality makes it look like it's old enough to be public domain.--Ilovetopaint (talk) 06:13, 15 August 2017 (UTC)
Original homes for Pilots
editWas it originally meant to be a residential village for 'pilots'? Does 'Air' mean anything in the name 'Bel Air'?--Jondel (talk) 12:38, 13 June 2019 (UTC)
