Holy Mother

edit

Regarding the term, "our Holy Mother" in the excommunication ritual. It doesn't refer to the Blessed Virgin Mary but the Church.

Wingdings

edit

In the Wingdings font alfabet of Microsoft Windows the bell, book and candle are also next to each other [[1]]. Coincidence? S!lver NL (talk) 09:42, 9 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Recent practice

edit

Since this was included in the Roman Pontifical up to Vatican II, was it performed right up to then, or had it long since fallen out of use? Beorhtwulf (talk) 09:52, 25 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

How notable is the Sabbat song?

edit

This looks like fancruft:

The British thrash metal band Sabbat references the ritual on the album History of a Time to Come in the song "A Cautionary Tale":

'Bell, book, and candle, candle, book, bell, forwards and backwards to damn me to Hell'

From a quick search, hundreds of songs have "bell book candle" in the lyrics, dozens of songs are titled that, and there's at least two bands with the name (one of which has a Wikipedia article). While Sabbat is notable enough to be covered by Wikipedia, I doubt this particular song is important enough that it's relevant to a page about the ritual. If I'm wrong, someone can explain (or, better, cite a published explanation) and add it back. --157.131.246.136 (talk) 23:58, 1 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
