Outlaw Concealed Carry or Enact CHL?
editArticle (w/ no citation) claims: "1995 As a result of the Luby’s shooting, Governor George W. Bush signs new law requiring a permit for concealed weapons." Is that right? Or is it that the new law ALLOWED concealed carry with permit (CHL)? (EnochBethany (talk) 13:24, 9 October 2015 (UTC))
- The law allowed concealed carry -- it was not a new requirement for carry. Someone reverted my correction of the misleading paragraph, done with reliable secondary source. Why? (EnochBethany (talk) 15:07, 25 October 2015 (UTC))
- Since no one came up with any reason for deleting the historical fact that the CHL law was less restrictive on carrying guns & rather revolutionary in Texas history, I have restored the facts with the citation. If the CHL law is to be included in this article, then it should be clear as to what it meant historically, regardless as to whether or not some editor likes the law or not. The Luby shooting in Bell County apparently did not result in restricting gun rights, but in expanding them. (EnochBethany (talk) 01:51, 1 November 2015 (UTC))
- That make sense to me since IIRC the general talking point was "if only people there had been packing they could have stopped this sort of thing". Herostratus (talk) 03:17, 1 November 2015 (UTC)
