This article needs cleaning
editThe differences between the Louisiana and Virginia Belle Grove need to be cleared up. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.62.194.199 (talk) 03:24, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
split this article, reduce to simple disambiguation?
editHey, I don't get what purpose this article serves, as is. There is no natural readership for an article on unrelated places which happen to share the same name accidentally. Shouldn't this be replaced by a simple disambiguation page, pointing to separate articles about the separate places sharing this name? doncram (talk) 05:53, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
- yes please, why did they invent disambiguation, also ownership of belle grove virginia by John Walter Fairfax. ok done. made this one the LA one, given the existing Cedar creek (middletown) one. pohick (talk) 01:55, 25 December 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for doing that. The disambig page is at Belle Grove. I made Belle Grove Plantation into a redirect to there, and renamed this Louisiana plantation one to show its location. Thanks. doncram (talk) 04:59, 25 December 2008 (UTC)
merger proposal
editNow i don't get what is the difference, if any, between Belle Grove, Louisiana, Bayou Black, created on 25 dec 2008, and this older article at "Belle Grove Plantation (Iberville Parish, Louisiana)". I think the two should be merged to this, the older article. Both are currently listed at the Belle Grove disambiguation page. doncram (talk) 22:30, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
- i believe that there are two LA plantations: "Belle Grove, one of the loveliest homes of storied Little Bayou Black's "sugar row" is no more. This monument to graceful living, not to be confused with another Belle Grove near White Castle, has passed away; but not without a trace. Parts of it still live in a new mansion on Bayou Terrebonne." [1] i wish some LA history person would build out. pohick (talk) 17:37, 29 March 2009 (UTC)
- Okay, and I see that an earlier version of this article, when it was about all places named "Belle Grove Plantation" including ones in Virginia, covered the fact that the Bayou Black one was different. Will remove merger tags now. Thanks! doncram (talk) 19:29, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
