Wikiproject California initial characterization
editI have assigned this article a "Start-class" rating since it barely makes it above a stub in size and quality. I have assigned an importance of "mid" since Bufano was one of the leading sculptors to be recognized in California in the 20th century. Anlace 16:37, 22 October 2006 (UTC) He was also known for his cats, bears, and other animal sculptures with very smooth and undetailed lines. My family collected his small sculptures, books, serigraphs, etc. His ability to work with large stainless steel objects was a bit of a mystery. One of his large sculptures was made out of melted-down guns that were turned in to the police.
Dates of birth/death
editAccording to the lead paragraph, Bufano lived October 14, 1898 – August 16, 1970 (with no source citation). According to his gravestone, illustrated in the article, his dates were October 15, 1890 – August 18, 1970. It would be helpful if someone could ascertain the correct dates, or explain the discrepancies, with citations to reliable sources.—Finell 10:54, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
- Currently reads as October 15, 1890 – August 18, 1970 because of the gravestone - please change with proper citation(s) & a discussion here. Jooojay (talk) 03:14, 19 October 2017 (UTC)

Problems with citations, based on recent edits
editRecent extensive structural changes to this article have broken the links to most of the citations in the section called "Selected works". The editor has been notified, and if there is no changes, was warned that the edits may be revered. Jooojay (talk) 23:54, 8 November 2018 (UTC)
- Peter Biella was this an accident? Do you know how to repair all the broken/missing citation links? Jooojay (talk) 23:07, 11 November 2018 (UTC)
Peter Biella replies: I have done my best to restore all the links and remove redundancies, adding many other citations both within Wiki pages and outside. Peter Biella (talk) 21:42, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
Hello Peter Biella, thanks for making an effort and for your contributions. However, there is a Wikipedia policy about too many external links, so much of this may still need clean up - please see Wikipedia:External links.Jooojay (talk) 05:23, 17 November 2018 (UTC)- I retract my statement, I see you worked on this further and made that correction yourself! Thank you! Good job! Jooojay (talk) 05:26, 17 November 2018 (UTC)
In the future, please do not change the citation style of an article without a discussion. Jooojay (talk) 20:18, 25 July 2019 (UTC)
Bears in Mitchell Park, Palo Alto, CA
editIn the children's area of Mitchell Park, Palo Alto, CA, there are two separate large bears for children to climb on. One upright sitting back and one on it's back with it's paws in the air. These look like Bene Bufano sculptures. Robert.Harker (talk) 04:09, 4 February 2019 (UTC)
- The Palo Alto Mitchell Park bears were designed and built by Robert Royston according to this citation (on page 128).[1]

Reliable sources
editRight now this WP article contains citations from the subjects ex-wife, Virginia Howard Lewin. This seems like it goes against WP:RS? Anyone want to discuss? Jooojay (talk) 20:15, 25 July 2019 (UTC)
