Assassination of Annibale

edit

I've got sources (mainly the Dizionario Biografico degli Italiani) that state Annibale I was killed by a Bettozo or a Baldassare Canetoli (depending on the author), just after the ceremony when A. became the godfather of a child from his enemies' family. Battista was only the head of family, and hadn't been taken into the conspiration. "Canneschi" could have been the name of the whole party, "the house and allies of the Canetoli", as the suffixes -schi and -schetti seem to have meant. Also, I hold from that same encyclopaedia, out of an article by Gaspare de CARO, that the Visconti of Milan was responsible for the conspiration (he would have brought back his influence in Bologna). A Milanese army was waiting outside the city. Eugene IV was a personal enemy of the Milanese, and the Duke's friend and father-in-law Amadeus of Savoy was even an antipope against Eugene, so he couldn't have been on their side.
