Edits made to reflect accuracy in text and references
editI've made the actual edits in the article ONLY because they're actually very insubstantial in the entry but my notes obviously have reasons and it would be harder to see the context of the changes. There are actually only 6 changes in all. Listed with reasons, as below. I think I've explained everything. If I've done this in the wrong format then I'm sorry. I was just trying to be true to the 'back things up' ethos of the Wiki.
1) Action Taken: Changed. i) Insertion of the word 'engineering', ii) Previously inaccessible (behind a paywall {Everyday Fortunes: Getting Rich by Selling the Basics', in Forbes}) reference removed, existing reference used instead and iii) one more added
Reason: It just seemed incomplete somehow i.e one area of business missing
Source: http://www.bsgresources.com/about/ Retrieved 2012-12-15
Changed from: “Beny Steinmetz is an Israeli businessman. His portfolio is in diamond-mining, and real-estate”
Changed to: “Beny Steinmetz is an Israeli businessman. His portfolio is in diamond-mining, engineering and real-estate”
2) Action Taken: Changed. This would appear to be pretty clear cut
Reason: inaccuracy. Beny-Steinmetz would appear to have no association at all, with Simfer S.A.
Confusion appears to be over that fact that the mining fields were awarded to BSG after being taken off of Rio Tinto.
The existing references 4, 5, and 6 relate not to the inaccurate statement that Beny Steinmetz is a CEO but to the also inaccurate statement that BSRG own Simfer [4, 5 {contradicts this and rightly states that Simfer are owned by Rio Tinto}], whereas [6] refers to neither of the statements about him being a CEO of either BSRG nor CEO and or the none existent Simfer reference.
Changed from: “He is the CEO of the Beny Steinmetz Resource Group, also based in Geneva.[4][5][6] He is also CEO of Simfer S.A., an Israel-based company that has done business in Sierra Leone and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.[4] “
Changed to: In December 2008, a three year exploration permit for Simandou Blocks 1 & 2 was awarded to BSGR Guinea, after the government of Guinea ordered that they be relinquished by their previous owner, Rio Tinto[12]
Source: “95% by Rio Tinto and 5% by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank” http://www.riotinto.com/ourproducts/21018_simandou.asp Given to BSG from Rio Tinto, as per Simandou and external references used
3) Action Taken: Changed. Text and moved existing reference
Reason – confusion and inaccuracy.
There is no content for the Wiki links, in the piece to 'DiamondWorks', nor Branch Energy Ltd. As this Wiki entry explains BSG does have involvment in Kono, via Koidu Holdings, this would seem unrelated therefore and the reference therefore obsolete also. Koidu Holdings
Changed from: “Together with DiamondWorks, a subsidiary of Branch Energy Ltd., he co-owns Koidu Holdings.[7] “
Changed to: “Formally operating as a joint venture Koidu Holdings.[7], has been solely owned BSGRs company since 2007.
Source:http://www.koiduholdings.com/company-history.php
4) Action Taken: Changed. Would appear to be clear cut
Reason: inaccurace and confused entry. The reference to Cunico is to a wrong Wiki reference.
Changed from: “As of 2010, he also owned Cunico,”
Changed to: “BSGR and another investment firm, IMR also control Cunico.”
5) Action Taken: Changed. This again would appear to be clear cut
Reason: BSGR owned a company which was acquired by Katanga Mining
Source: Nikanor Plc
Changed from: and publicly traded Katanga Mining”
Changed to: As founder and a major shareholder of Nikanor plc this company was acquired in 2008 by Katanga Mining
6) Action Taken: Link to none existent internal Wiki article removed, in the interests of 'tidying up'
Changed from: “In 1997, he founded STI Ventures NV”
Change to: “In 1997, he founded STI Ventures NV”

Hi there
As you will see from my previous posts, I am a PR adviser to a number of companies. One client includes BSGR. I would like to propose the following changes to Beny Steinmetz’s Wikipedia entry, which are intended to update information based on more recent articles, and hopefully to improve accuracy of the respective entry.
For example, the Forbes article that was used as a reference to Beny Steinmetz’s wealth was related to an article in March 2011. I have included the link below from March 2013 which provides more up to date information. And with regards to his philanthropic work through the Beny and Agnes Steinmetz Foundation, I have added further colour about its activities.
I hope these are ok – please let me know if not, or if you are happy for me to update them.
Many thanks
First change proposed:
FROM: The March 2011 issue of Forbes magazine estimated his personal wealth at US$6 billion. As of March 2011, he was the second richest person in Israel, before Sammy Ofer died in June 2011.
TO: The March 2013 issue of Forbes magazine estimated his personal wealth at US$4.1 billion. As of March 2013, he was the 6th richest person in Israel. http://www.forbes.com/profile/beny-steinmetz/
Second change proposed:
FROM: The US Justice Department and the FBI have been investigating BSGR’s acquisition of the rights to extract half the ore deposits at Simandou, due to concerns about bribery and corruption.
TO: The US Justice Department and the FBI have been investigating BSGR’s acquisition of the rights to extract half the ore deposits at Simandou, due to concerns about bribery and corruption. These have been robustly contested by BSGR and Beny Steinmetz.

As the founder of the Beny Steinmetz Resource Group, which is also based in Geneva, he now acts in advisory role to the board of directors.

Neutrality of point of view issues
editI filed a banner today informing of the article's neutrality conflict. A thorough check of the sources, which are largely biased in favour of the person, would be necessary. Sections related to his condamnations have been deleted (194.30.255.126), and many enhancements to his charity foundations are not proportionate. Alchiseb (talk) 18:03, 2 September 2022 (UTC)
