So What Cha Want
editIn the video there are passages that relate to "So What Cha Want" by Beastie Boys :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.24.235.227 (talk) 19:03, 24 October 2013 (UTC)
Genre: Rap Rock
editI am suggesting the genre of this page to be changed to "Hip Hop, Rap Rock" instead of just "Hip Hop". The song is obviously intentionally going for the 80s rap rock style that Run DMC and the Beastie Boys used to do. Run-DMC and the Beastie Boys are both listed as rap rock on Wikipedia. Rap Rock is classified on Wikipedia as "fusing vocal and instrumental elements of hip hop with various forms of rock". If you listen to the songs it includes both vocal and instrumental elements of hip hop, plus elements of rock. If you listen to the song it includes a lot of elements of rock. - We can't just use your opinion on what it sounds like that would be WP:OR. Koala15 (talk) 02:27, 31 October 2013 (UTC)
- Nah we probably won't. See WP:OR. STATic message me! 02:46, 31 October 2013 (UTC)
- It isn't just an opinion though, the song fits Wikipedia's definition of Rap rock. Metalfan72 (talk) 20:54, 2 November 2013 (UTC)
To STATicVapor: Do you agree it's a rap rock song, yes or no? Metalfan72's right. It's easily a rap rock song, and why so strict? As you're the creator, have a look at WP:OWN. There are millions of song and album articles, and the genres on such articles are mostly NOT sourced but are usually accurate. When adding genres to articles, one should be knowledgeable on music, particularly genres and also know the actual song or album well. I never add incorrect genres. Hiddenstranger (talk) 14:28, 11 January 2014 (UTC)
- No it is not. You two with your original research and unreliable sources will not get it added. Also, no I was not the creator of the article lol, but nice try. Genres in all well written articles are always sourced. General genres such as Hip hop, or Rock, do not need sources, but all specialty genres or sub-genres must be backed by multiple reliable sources. Reveant guidelines/polcies would be WP:NOR, WP:GWAR and most of all WP:SUBJECTIVE. In the future please edit with a WP:NPOV. STATic message me! 18:35, 11 January 2014 (UTC)
I agree with Metalfan72 alot 100%,I Edited The Genre of "Berzerk" and added RapRock and then it was reverted by this koala dude,Berzerk Heavily samples The Stroke which is a Hard Rock song,The song doesn't really sound that Hip Hop the only hip hop elements it has Are the Raps and Scratches,That's it , but more of the drums and power chords, so i also agree that Berzerk is a rap rock song. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Phillip Mweemba (talk • contribs) 19:32, 24 January 2014 (UTC)
- To be honest, I though the SPIN cite was enough, however outside of the title, the word rock or punk were not mentioned in the pose itself. On top of that, we need multiple reliable sources that refer to it as "rap rock" to include it, not just make our own conclusions based on the sound of the song, that is WP:OR at its finest. That is one of the reasons a discussion on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Music, where there seems to be a movement behind removing the genre parameter from music articles entirely.
