Possible merge to Amhara Province?
editBete Amhara and Amhara Province seem to refer to the same thing, so can someone examine them to see if they are indeed the same, and perhaps propose a merge of the two articles if they are? Hzh (talk) 11:03, 2 December 2018 (UTC)

Trivial dispute with @Rogeman123: over the english translation in Bold
editHello Rogeman123, in my opinion the English translation in Bold improves the page. Your only argument so far in your summaries is that it's unnecessary. Why are you so against it? Dawit S Gondaria (talk) 01:07, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
Response to third opinion request: |
In my view, the translation should not be bolded. The Manual of Style discourages the use of bold except for certain circumstances. See MOS:BOLD. One of those circumstances is to highlight a significant alternative title for a person, place, or thing. See MOS:BOLDSYN. In practice, this means that places like the Hagia Sophia and Masjid al-Haram, where the English translation is significant, have those translations bolded. But I do not think that most people know Bete Amhara by its English translation, so the English translation is not significant. And places where the English title is not significant do not have the English title bolded. See, e.g., Al-Aqsa Mosque. Also note that in all three of these example articles, the literal translation is not bolded -- it is set off by quotation marks.

@Dndlp: Fine, not bold it is. I just thought it looks better that way, and i have seen quite a few pages which has translation bolded, but it's fine, thanks for your opinion. Dawit S Gondaria (talk) 08:44, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
- @Dawit S Gondaria: You are welcome! Thanks for participating in the third opinion process. Dndlp (talk) 18:24, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
- Dndlp, I agree. We don't put translations in bold unless they are the main subject of the article, for instance. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 21:30, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
